NFPA sets the recommended minimum standards but your AHJ has the final word.

So what does that mean to you?

There are a handful of systems (alarm and sprinkler included) that the NFPA has recommended visual and functional checks as often as daily and unless your AHJ has decided otherwise, that's the minimum expectation.
  • Is your service provider performing those daily/weekly checks for you? Probably not.

  • Have they instructed you to do them and shown you how? Maybe.

  • Have they verified the expectations of your AHJ around these frequently recurring requirements to give you confidence that your compliance is covered? I hope so.
